One tip to get more out of days in the office

If you are going to work from the office, you really want to get the most out of it that you can.

Whether you are battling the traffic or crammed into a bus or train, commuting to the office takes time out of the day. Something that we are all so much more aware of now that we have had the experience of stumbling from the bed to the office (hopefully with a shower on the way!) on work-from-home days.

So you really need to get a return on the investment of your time when you go into the office.

One easy-to-implement tip is to:

Plan your office days. Schedule work that is best done face-to-face with others.

Personally, I cannot see the point of an hour-long commute, connecting your laptop to the office workstation, and jumping into online meetings with just an occasional hello to your colleagues during the day. And then having to get back home again. Unless you really like the smelly armpits of fellow travelers at the end of the day, this is not a good use of your time. 🤦‍♀️

It takes some planning to set your days up right, but using the time to meet or work with others can be really valuable to your work and your career.

More on this later. Let’s take this one tip at a time.
